Alf Clibery Dip. S.W. Dip. D.S.Y.

alf cliberyAlf has been teaching yoga since 1999. In addition he has over 27 years experience working in social care, as a Social Worker and Probation Officer.

He qualified as a yoga teacher through the Devon School of Yoga in 1999 and then Sivananda Vedanta Organisation in 2000.

Alf was introduced to viny-yoga by his teacher Ranju Roy with whom he has been studying since 1999.  He has progressed through the Association of Yoga Studies (formally Viny-yoga UK) introductory and foundation modules and completed the three year Sadhana Mala Yoga Teaching/Therapy Diploma in 2008. This diploma focused on the use of yoga at a therapeutic level. He continues his study of the approach to yoga as taught by Krishnamacharaya through individual sessions with Ranju Roy and attendance at vini-yoga workshops. The approach respects individual needs and capacity, so you can grow in your own way and at your own pace.

Alf CliberyAlf continues to teach group classes and workshops in Devon. He also teaches one to one sessions with individuals with therapeutic needs or those who simply wish to develop their personal practice.

In addition Alf has taught yoga to residents at Nelson House Rehabilitation Unit in Gloucestershire and to offenders subject to Drug Treatment and Testing Orders. Both settings have given the opportunity to combine the eastern methodology of yoga with expertise in Motivational Interviewing Techniques and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy gained as a Social Worker and Probation Officer.

alf cliberyI wish to take the opportunity to offer respect to my teachers, Sharon St. Clare, Duncan Hulin, Swami Sadasivananda, Swami Atmaramananda and Ranju Roy, and to their teachers and their teacher's teachers. It is a blessing to play a small part in the teaching of yoga.
